Grovetown Defense contractor killed in Afghanistan

GROVETOWN, GA (WFXG)- Michael Robert Bradford, an employee of DynCorp International, has been killed in Afghanistan.

Bradford was a Grovetown resident, according to information from a DynCorp spokesperson.

The spokesperson told WFXG that Bradford was killed after an explosion happened in Kabul on Thursday. He was part of the Combined Security Transition Command. The explosion also claimed the lives of three other DynCorp employees.

Power lines down after car crash

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG)- Georgia Power crews are working to fix power lines
at William Few Parkway and Knob Hill that were struck from a car crash around 9
a.m. Saturday.

Columbia County dispatch said two cars were involved
with injuries. The road was shut down until the scene was cleared.

Traffic is now being redirected while crews fix the
power lines.

Deputy dies following motorcycle crash

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG)- Richmond County deputy Alton Creech has died, according to Vernon Collins, the Columbia County coroner.

Creech was being treated at Georgia Regents University after being critically injured in an off duty motorcycle accident Thursday afternoon.

Collins says Creech died about 4:15 p.m. Friday.

Columbia County Captain Steve Morris says Creech was exiting from Interstate 20 to Belair road when he crashed into the back of a vehicle.

Morris says the setting sun may have kept Creech from seeing that traffic was backed up.

Road closures announced for Thunder Over Augusta

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG)- Columbia
County wishes to inform the driving public of two temporary road closures in
the Evans Towne Center for this year's Thunder Over Augusta Event.

Two people injured in Columbia County wreck

MARTINEZ, GA (WFXG)- Two people were taken to the hospital after two vehicles collided at the intersection of Columbia Road and Washington Road Wednesday night.

Columbia County investigators don't know how serious the injuries are.

Investigators aren't releasing any other information at this time.
